Irish
Claddagh Rings ::
Claddagh Wedding Band
No Irish Wedding is complete without a
Claddagh Wedding Band
If you are considering using the Claddagh as
your wedding ring, you have two choices. You can select a traditional Claddagh
ring (like the one its creator Richard Joyce made for his wife) or a Claddagh
band. A traditional Claddagh ring has a bezel cut or cast in the form of two
hands (symbolizing friendship) clasping a heart (symbolizing love) topped with a
crown (symbolizing loyalty) A Claddagh band, on the other hand, is a circular
ring (of various metals) with etchings of the Claddagh directly on it.
“The band” is an ancient symbol of marriage that dates back to the Egyptians. It
is said to represent eternity – an endless circle with no beginning and no end.
The Celts also found great symbolism in the circle believing it represented,
among other things, wholeness and the life cycle. The Celts believed that the
center of a circle was where the Heavens and the Earth met, a place where the
soul could reach ultimate enlightenment. The center of a wedding band is one’s
left ring finger – which has a vein that runs to the heart.
Whether you choose a Claddagh ring or band as your wedding ring, you will be
wearing a ring steeped in rich traditions. If you choose a Claddagh themed band,
we have many choices available to you here at to fit your tastes and budget. You
can find Claddagh bands in gold, silver, platinum, or two-toned. We have bands
for both men and women of various thicknesses – some even have diamonds set
within them. Additionally, we have several matching sets for brides and grooms –
including a band which has etchings of both the Claddagh and another symbolic
Celtic design – the trinity. Please see our array of beautiful and symbolic
Claddagh Wedding Bands.
