Irish Claddagh Rings :: Claddagh Wedding Invitations

Claddagh Wedding Invitations

By Caurie Anne Putnam

The most obvious way to incorporate the Claddagh in your wedding invitations is to order invitations with this beautiful symbol on it. There are various stationery companies online that sell Claddagh themed wedding invitations. When searching the sites for Claddagh Wedding Invitations, you should search by the words “Claddagh” and also “Celtic” or “Irish.”  If you cannot find a stationery company with a Claddagh design to suit your needs or budget, consider designing your own and having your invitations printed at a local print shop.

When it comes to the wording to use for your Claddagh Wedding Invitations, I was unable to find any examples online or in company catalogues. Therefore, I wrote my own.

Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Miner
invite you to share in a celebration
of love, loyalty, and friendship
as their daughter
Caurie Anne
is joined in Holy Matrimony with
Dr. Arthur Stanley Putnam…

Finally, a Claddagh design on your wedding invitations can beautifully set the stage for a Claddagh themed wedding! You can incorporate the Claddagh into everything from your unity candle to cake! A Claddagh themed program is also a beautiful segue from your invitation to the church ceremony. Again, you can order pre-made programs online with the Claddagh on them or you can design your own. I designed my own and wrote the following:
The Irish Claddagh beautifully symbolizes the reasons we are gathered together today. If you look closely at the gold Claddagh you will see a splendid crown adorning a heart. Two hands cradle this heart—holding and protecting it. The heart represents love; the crown loyalty; and the hands friendship. Not only does the Claddagh represent our relationship, but each of you are represented in the Claddagh because of your meaning to us! We, Arthur and Caurie, thank each of you for the love, loyalty, and friendship you bring into our lives and for joining us today as we celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.
